Our Story:

CIBAKERT Agricultural Ltd. (CIBAKERT Mezőgazdasági Kft.) is a business founded on March 15, 1993, for mainly the production and integration of industrial plants, specializing in vegetables under exclusively irrigated conditions. Trying to navigate the economic turmoil following the political changes in the early nineties we have found a niche market, and with overcoming many difficulties, a lot of hard work and sacrifice, and sometimes luck, we could begin the path to growth. The central issue of our constantly expanding integrated territories was maintaining quality and reliable production, the continuous testing of different vegetable varieties and acquiring the seed supply directly, so close relationships were formed with various seed companies as well. It followed, that in 1996 the Dutch Pop Vriend seed production company asked us to represent them in Hungary. Due to the strong market demand, our output, integration and seed trading business grew steadily. The further expansion of our production area was due to buying irrigation systems under bankruptcy procedure in Kétpó in 2000, and in 2004 in Kuncsorba and finally renting out the land underneath them. Along with this, seed trade and the integration of other producers also saw a considerable boost, which in 2002 prompted us to separate commercial and service activity from CIBAKERT Agricultural Ltd’s base agricultural activity with the formation of new companies and created CIBAKERT MAG Seed Trade Ltd. (CIBAKERT MAG Vetőmagkereskedelmi Kft.) and CIBAKERT PO Vegetable Producers' Sales Cooperative (CIBAKERT TÉSz Zöldségtermelői Értékesítő Szövetkezet) which ceased its operations at the end of 2017.

Despite joining the EU and lots of other adverse weather, economic and political conditions, the group is still working and has stable markets.

The Present:

CIBAKERT Agricultural Ltd. at the present does production around three different towns, but unfortunately due to changes in law regarding land and subsidies, cultivated areas had to be reduced for practical reasons. So we created in the August of 2014 Subicz Kertész Ltd, which was founded for the land held by the company group’s majority owners’ and their family members. All the conditions for high quality production are ensured – with an exceptional ability to irrigate all cultivated areas -, furthermore we have always paid great attention to keep up with the latest technical developments, and care and protect the environment as well. Key element in our production continues to be large seeded vegetable crops, but equally important is our seed production and the continuation of service activities with available machine, irrigation and transport capacities. Sweet corn is grown in the largest volumes, but green and podded bean production is also prominent, all in field conditions intended for industry only. 100 percent of the produced quantity of goods is sold on a contractual basis to domestic canning factories and cold storage facilities in a scheduled manner and with fixed prices.

CIBAKERT MAG Seed Trade Ltd. also went through many changes. Suddenly and without prior notice, our steady 14 year relationship with the Pop Vriend ceased to exist in 2010. Because of this, and for the survival of our seed trading activities and established connections, we began trading in the same year with the Hungarian Top-Corn Kft.’s high quality sweet corn hybrids, and then from 2012 we contracted to represent the also Dutch Holland-Select’s industrial bean varieties in Hungary and in the neighbouring countries. CIBAKERT MAG Ltd. in 2011-2012 created its own high-tech seed factory, where pea and winter wheat seed processing takes place. The produced and processed pea and winter wheat seeds get to the customers within the framework of a processing contract or direct sales. The freely distributable Danish pea varieties and the high-end Hungarian wheat varieties from Martonvásár reach the market with courtesy and co-operation of MG Falker GBBR Bt (Gödöllő) and Don-Agro Ltd (Törökszentmiklós) respectively.
